More Baby Pigs

Our second sow has just given birth to thirteen healthy piglets, so the barn is starting to look quite full again!

These pictures were taken immediately after they were all born. You can see that their ears are still inside out and flat against their heads.  You can also see how small they are in comparison to their mum, so it’s no wonder that some get squashed in the first few days while they get used to each other. Thankfully, she has proved to be a good mum and all thirteen piglets are doing well.

With the warm weather that we had last week she was able to take them outside when they were only two days old and they are having a great time discovering the woods and meeting the other pigs. Being so small, they easily slip under the electric fence and sometimes venture in to say ‘hello’ to their dad. It’s amazing to see a 700lb pig with the tiny creatures, carefully picking up his feet as they run circles around him.

This litter of piglets will be weaned and available for sale on 19th August.
